Why become a Member of Green Sod Ireland?

There are many ways in which members help ensure that  Green Sod continues to protect and conserve land in Ireland. For many people, saving the green spaces that enrich our lives is reason enough to support the work of protecting land. There are others who live in a growing awareness that our health and well-being depends on the health and well-being of the land and all that lives on it. Ensuring that our natural heritage is protected is critical to the food we eat, the air we breathe and the water we depend on for life.

What will we do with your membership fee?

Every cent of the money you donate will bring us one step closer to making Ireland a greener and better place for us all.

A small percentage of your donations is used for the organisation of events such as our Christmas / summer fairs and others events which in turn raise money. The rest of it is saved in order to buy and manage land. We are constantly on the lookout for any land which may be purchased for the protection and preservation of its wildlife. Green Sod Ireland seeks to protect land and its biodiversity all over the island of Ireland.

The distribution of donations is reviewed yearly to ensure maximum funding for the buying and managing of land.

None of the Trust directors receive any financial remuneration for their work. Green Sod Ireland is run mainly by volunteers. Green Sod Ireland is run on a voluntary basis, with the invaluable help of its supporters. There is one employee: an office administrator whose part-time employment has been possible due to a generous benefactor.

You want to be an active member?

Membership is open to individuals, families and groups who are interested in ensuring that land is protected for future generations. Members may vote at an AGMs, and/ or participate on committees, and upon becoming a member will receive a 'welcome' pack, which contains a cotton bag and a set of cards.
