Carlow is a landlocked county in the southeast of Ireland.
One of the smallest counties in the country, it is bordered by counties Wexford, Wicklow, Laois, and Kilkenny.
The Blackstairs Mountains border Wexford for 22km, with six peaks over 520m.
Carlow's main river is the Barrow, the second longest in Ireland. It is one of a trio of rivers known as the Three Sisters, which all rise in Co. Tipperary.
At 120 miles long, the Barrow is Ireland's second longest river.
